Decision intelligence vs BI: a dashboard shows what happened; decision intelligence prepares what to do.
Business intelligence (BI) reports the past and shows it on a dashboard; a person decides what to do. Decision intelligence reads the same data, notices the problem in time, weighs the options against your rules and prepares the action, with its reasoning, for your approval. It does not replace BI: your dashboards stay, and the decision step is added.
| Aspect | Business intelligence (BI) | Decision intelligence (Veraius) |
|---|---|---|
| The question it answers | What happened, and why? | What will happen, and what should we do? |
| Output | Reports, dashboards, charts | An action prepared with its reasoning and evidence |
| When it runs | When someone looks at the dashboard | Data is read on a schedule; the workflow starts by itself when a threshold is crossed |
| Who acts | An analyst interprets, a manager decides | An agent prepares the options, the team approves in Veraius |
| Options | Usually a single view | Cautious, balanced and ambitious options side by side |
| Record | The reason for the decision is not written down | Who approved what, and why, is in the audit trail |
| Writing to systems | None | Only the approved action, written to the ERP in one go |
BI is enough if
- The question is asked rarely and needs a person's interpretation
- The goal is monitoring and reporting
You need decision intelligence if
- The same decision recurs every day or week (replenishment, maintenance, collections)
- Delay costs money and the reason for the decision must be on record
What your teams gain from Veraius agents.
Budget against reality
Planned and actual spend are compared by cost centre, and variances above your threshold are escalated with their cause.

Inbound leads are scored hot, warm or cold from their behaviour and fit, and routed to the right owner.

Open orders are compared with available capacity so delivery risk shows before a due date is missed.
